The inception of the B.A Honours course in Journalism & Mass Communication in the year 2006 and general in 2004 with affiliation to the University of Calcutta. Five years later i.e. in 2011, the college faced a change in affiliation to West Bengal State University, Barasat (North 24 Parganas). The huge popularity of the subject due to its practical aspect and good job prospect, the department has been an important part of the institution since its establishment. Journalism and Mass Communication is especially a favorite subject for students as it is job oriented and multi-faceted in character. A student who passes out from the department can have access to multifarious jobs like reporter, editor, PRO, Advertising executive, film and documentary maker as well as a multimedia specialist, just to name a few. The subject is interdisciplinary in nature, with associations in Sociology, political Science, language studies and Women Studies. Infrastructure of the department consists of Departmental room, 2 well-equipped laboratory having with Updated computers,Photoshop and quark xpress software for journal creation and tabloid making and Whiteboards for charts and other writings. Departmental Seminar library and also shares all other central infrastructure of the college like ICT enabled classroom, library with other departments etc.
